Title: The Tear in the Sky
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zubeneschamali
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] illiminal
Rating: PG
Word count: 4703
Summary: How Season Nine should have started. Sam's recovering from the damage the Trials have wreaked on his body when he notices that something's not quite right—not with him, but with Dean.

A/N: [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang does it to me again: shows me an intriguing piece of art that makes me want to know what's going on so badly that I have to sit down and write it. I wish RL hadn't made writing such a struggle this year, so I owe [livejournal.com profile] illiminal a lot for putting up with me. I hope I did your art justice. Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner for being my proxy during claims and beta reading at the last minute.

Small versions of the art are embedded in the fic, including the title, but please look at the full versions here and tell [livejournal.com profile] illiminal how awesome it is. I'm so pleased to have been able to work on this!

The full version with art can be found on AO3 here.

Title: Sakonnet Point
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zubeneschamali
Rating: PG
Word count: 5275
Warnings: none
Summary: Outsider POV, crossover with X-Files. Something is killing young men on the New England coast. Sam and Dean have to contend not just with the monster, but with two FBI agents, even if those agents might be more willing than most to hear them out. Written for [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen.

Author's Notes: Since my first fandom and first fic-writing were for the X-Files, I was thrilled to see [livejournal.com profile] annie46's request for a crossover for last year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen. I obviously had to bend canon to get these two in the same place and time as Sam and Dean, so consider this somewhere around S2 for SPN and S5 for XF. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fiercelynormal for the beta read.

Title: Time to Let Go
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zubeneschamali
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: mention of suicide
Word count: 3,110
Spoilers: through S9 mid-season hiatus
Summary: Sam's only been himself again for a few months when an old enemy threatens to end his life for good. Can he trust Dean to save him, or is it better to just let go?

A/N: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] ohsam prompt (full version here) of post-Gadreel Sam not trusting Dean even though his life is at stake. Also filling the "twenty-four hours to live" square on my trope_bingo card, which makes it a blackout bingo! \o/

You guys, I am flailing so much I can't even. I have wanted an SPN vid of Bruce Springsteen's "No Surrender" for YEARS, and this year [livejournal.com profile] ash48 got me in the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas exchange and made all my dreams come true. It's mostly early seasons, but there's the right amount of later seasons in there, too, and all the Sam and Dean feels, and PERFECT use of the lyrics and the music (duh, it's [livejournal.com profile] ash48), and you really need to go and watch it right now. Even if you're kinda sorta or totally out of the fandom, you'll still appreciate it.

Vid here

Thank you SOOOOO much, Ash!

Word count: 1,793
Rating: PG
Summary: Set after 8.23. One of the artifacts in the Men of Letters' bunker causes Dean and Sam to switch bodies, and a number of truths suddenly become clear.

I did say it might be a while...

My friend had her baby, and while little Corwin's quilt has been pieced, it has not yet been quilted, and is therefore not pictured here yet. :) Not like he needs it for warmth at the moment anyway, so I will get to the quilting once I've finished piecing the first half of the SPN quilt blocks. It's good to have goals. :)

I have, however, managed to finish five of the sixteen "Kansas Troubles" blocks, and here's one:

Title: Holding On
Author: zuben_eschamali
Rating: PG
Word count: 1,109
Summary: Written for the comment!fic meme for National Hugging Day for the prompt: Sam can't sleep because it's like he can feel Lucifer there, wrapped around him. Dean finally decides that Halucifer can't spoon Sam if Dean is already there, doing the job.

A/N: I forgot to repost this! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] whatjuliewrites for the prompt and [livejournal.com profile] juice817 for running the show.

Title: Grounded
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zuben_eschamali
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 885
Summary: Set mid-season 7. Sam resorts to more extreme measures to try and keep from seeing Lucifer everywhere he goes, and Dean's the one who finds him afterwards.

A/N: Fills the "electrocution" square on my [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo card. Maybe a bit more with the hurt than the comfort.

Title: Out of Aces
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zuben_eschamali
Rating: PG

Summary: Missing scene from 7.10, with spoilers. Sam's got one last chance left, even if it's something he swore he'd never do.

A/N: Fills the "making deals with demons" square on my hc_bingo card and doomed to be Kripked as soon as the season resumes. The title is from Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler."

Title: Shine Like Silver
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zuben_eschamali
Rating: R
Word count: 1,122
Summary: Sometimes being a hunter was like holding a hammer and thinking everything was a nail. The problem was, sometimes that was wrong, and now Sam's life was hanging in the balance.

A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] 50states_spn and also for [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo (the serial killer square). There's some POV experimentation going on as well. The title is from Barenaked Ladies' "Aluminum," which seems really appropriate for the Silver State. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] embroiderama and [livejournal.com profile] ebcdic for beta reading.

The last two days were a whirlwind of teach class-drive-drive-drive-do fieldwork interviews-visit friend-do more interviews-drive-drive-drive-prepare class at midnight. Ugh. This week sucks.

But. I saw two things in southern Wisconsin that made me LOL.

1) At the exit sign for Edgerton, WI (crossover alert!), there was a sign for the Winchester Family Restaurant. I want this fic. Now, please. Kthxbai.

2) Apparently in Madison there's a health care provider called Dean Health System. Let me guess: whiskey, a sterilized needle, and black thread?

Title: After the Kingfisher's Wing
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zuben_eschamali
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 3,200
Spoilers: through the end of Season 6
Summary: If the first woman God ever made was strong enough to turn the world upside down, these women together ought to be able to turn it right side up again.

A/N:  This piece was written for [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon; I owe [livejournal.com profile] magisterequitum for making me aware of its existence. Go check it out, there's some great stuff there! The summary, which was also the prompt, is a quote from Sojourner Truth (could there be a more perfect prompt for SPN?). Written as a series of double-drabbles for extra fun, and no longer canon-compliant after 7.01. Thanks to [info]dugindeep and [info]kasman for beta reading.

After the kingfisher's wing
Has answered light to light, and is silent, the light is still
At the still point of the turning world.

So this explains a lot about our love for Sam and Dean...

http://www.good.is/post/women-find-happy-men-less-attractive-than-grumps

"In a survey of 1,000 adults, women generally preferred men who looked strong and proud, arms raised into the sky, or sullen and ashamed—in that order."
