Still trying to finish this off! Ironically, I've been stuck on this question for a while:

Day Thirty: React to the phrase "letting go."

I'm not a perfectionist. I mean, I cut corners all the time, leave things half-done or finish in a rush just to be finished. My husband is a perfectionist, so I know whereof I speak. But. At the same time, I often feel like I can't start something until I have a large chunk of time to devote to it and do it right. Like this post. Or responding to comments. Or certain work projects. I seem to have gotten around this mental block with regards to writing fic, thanks to Get Your Words Out, by throwing down a few hundred words a day, more or less, and eventually finishing stories one little bit at a time. If only I could adopt that attitude elsewhere and let go of the need to have as much time as I need to do something start to finish. Little bites, here and there, not a whole meal at once.

Do you tend to work in short bursts, or do you feel like you have to wait until you have a large block of uninterrupted time?

I feel your pain. I don't feel like I *have* to have a large block of time to start something, but once I do start, everything else tends to fall by the wayside. I have trouble 'letting go'.

Especially if it's a case of - 'before I do this thing that is high priority and I must do it, I shall indulge just a little in some other more pleasant project first.' Hours later, it is past time for bed, and I've never gotten around to the Must-Do task.

Ah, yes, that latter paragraph is true for me as well. Good for my quilting and my Angry Birds-playing, not so good for my writing!
