You know, much as I didn't want the boys to start out this half-season lying to each other, I can't imagine a better reason than Dean thinking it might crack the wall open if he tells Sam the truth. (Though I'm still glad that [a] Sam found out from Castiel - although we don't know exactly how much, and [b] Dean did tell the truth about Lisa and Ben (my poor heart!) and [c] it didn't render my recent fic Bait AU yet!)
